47 Pounds Down in 3 Months for less than $5

It’s been over three months since I began my weight loss goal, and I’m so proud to announce that I lost 47 pounds! I’m not telling you this just to brag about how much weight I lost.

I’m sharing this story with you because I KNOW how miserable it is to look in the mirror every day and hate what you see.

Well things have completely changed for the better since I found the Acai Berry diet, which has been a miracle for me.

Here’s why I love it so much:

  • It gives me a healthy boost of energy throughout the day, without a crash
  • It’s an all natural product based on naturally occurring Acai Berries
  • It suppresses my appetite and boosts my metabolism
  • It was free to try for 14 days, so there’s no risk (all you have to pay is shipping)
  • It simply works! I’ve lost so much weight in just my first three months.

I decided that it was time to post my before and after shots so that you can see the transformation that I’ve made:

Here is me before (taken back in May 2008):

AND HERE IS ME TODAY!

47 pounds thinner (and much tanner thanks to the summer heat :)

Do you notice a difference?

For the last several years, I had been struggling to lose weight and that I felt so drained and just wanted to give up. I was yo-yo dieting and trying everything that I could to lose weight, but I was failing miserably. My self confidence had dropped so low that it was affecting every part of my life including my marriage, my relationship with friends, and even my job. I was so embarrassed to run into old friends because I didn’t want them to see how much I had changed in the last few years. I weighed 181 pounds at this point.

So the summer of 2008 came and I realized it was time to make a change. I stopped eating so much crap food and began the Acai Berry diet on the recommendation of my nutritionist. The combination of these two was just what it took to help me realize my dream of becoming healthy, thin and, well, sexy!

I really love the Acai Berry. It gave me an extra boost of energy throughout the day, but without the jitter or a crash. It was easy to add to my daily routine; I just substituted it for the coffee, diet soda and wine that I normally drank. It made me eat less by suppressing my diet, and increased my metabolism. And, most importantly, it helped me lose a ton of weight! My old friends could hardly recognize me now that I had lost 77 pounds in just three months. I even catch guys from my office checking me out again. It’s definitely improved my social life. If you’ve been struggling to lose weight, you have to take action! You can’t just think about losing weight. Get the free two week trial so that you can experience the same joys that I have!

I’m also happy to report that my sister Lisa is also on her way to achieving her weight loss dreams. She’s already lost 10 pounds since my trip to Georgia and already on track to continue. I’m still pushing for her to make her own online journal documenting the success she’s had as well as to keep her motivated and on track.

I’ll continue posting my progress into the fall and winter months as well as help anyone who’s got any questions about my transformation online :)

Rachel Ray talks about Acai Berry!

So I was browsing Youtube today watching different videos and I stumbled across a video of celebrity Rachel Ray talking about Acai Berry and the nutritious and healthy affects that it has to offer. I think in the show they sample the Monevie Acai Berry which is a MUCH more expensive version of the Acai Berry Blast that Tony recommended that I take to help me lose my weight. Along with the Oprah post, this is the second time that I’ve seen a major TV personality recommend the Acai Berry!

Staying Healthy

So Georgia was awesome…my family was thrilled for me and made me feel like a million dollars with all of their encouragements and praise. It was definitely the best I’ve felt in a long time. My sister Lisa, who is also around 40 pounds overweight, has decided to give the Acai diet a try and I helped her order her free trial of Acai Berry. We also got her hooked up with a local dietician in Atlanta that is going to help her track her progress. I encouraged her to make a blog and if she does I’ll post a link to it here.

So I’ve decided that for the next few weeks I’m going to focus on the maintaining my weight. In the past, when I’ve tried dieting, I’d lose weight for 2-3 weeks then I fall off the wagon and gain everything back and then some. Let’s just say that willpower is not my strong point. Well, this is the first time that I’ve lost such a significant amount of weight, and I REALLY want to keep it up.

I have to make this into a lifestyle change that includes exercise in order for this to work. If anyone has any suggestions for a plan to follow for healthier living - I’d love to hear about it. I’m not sure what guidelines I want to follow yet.

Off to Georgia

Just wanted to let you all know that I’ll be away for the next two weeks visiting my family on the east coast and flaunting my new body :) I plan on continuing to watch what I eat and drink my Acai religiously, but may splurge for a burger or two (come on, its a vacation!).

Talk to you all when I return.

Month 1: 22 Pounds Lost!

So it’s been a little over a month since I started my new Acai Diet and I’m happy to report that I’ve lost a total of 22 pounds. As I wrote in my first post back in May, my goal has and still is to lose weight and become healthier without any binge dieting, 7-day-a-week exercise regiment or any other drastic lifestyle change. The two biggest contributors to my weight loss has been cutting the junk food and sodas out of my diet and taking the Acai Berry supplement that my nutritionist Tony recommended.

I don’t want to post a picture of my results yet as I have a trip planned to go back east to see my family next week and I want them to see my progress in person rather than on the website. After my next big update, I’ll post some before and after photos of my body. I may even make a YouTube video showing different parts of my daily routine to help others who may try and follow the same steps that I did.

Anyways, I just wanted to give a quick status update and will try to be more diligent with my posting in the coming weeks :)

Drink More Water to Lose Weight

I was talking with Tony today about my weight loss progress (still going great!) and he gave me a piece of sage advice that I never really thought about. One secret to some fast weight loss without exercise or diet changes is to drink more water!

Here’s where I know there must be some kind of self-sabotage involved in my battle to lose the last ten pounds. I know I should be drinking more water, and it is the easiest thing in the world to do. It doesn’t involve willpower, it doesn’t involve dragging myself out to exercise, and it doesn’t involve cutting back on calories. So why aren’t I doing it?

It’s not just me. Most North Americans are dehydrated. In fact, chronic dehydration is probably the most common cause of a lot of our health ailments. There are two main reasons so many people are dehydrated these days. We eat less vegetables and fruits (which are water-dense) and more processed foods than we should. And we drink lots of caffeinated beverages instead of water. Caffeinated beverages and alcohol are diuretics. They force more water out of our bodies.

If a person is dehydrated their body compensates by retaining excess water as a protective measure. This alone is responsible for some excess weight. As well, a dehydrated person’s metabolism is significantly lower than a normally hydrated person.

Dehydration is responsible for many people’s feelings of fatigue. Many people have lost their sense of thirst and mistake it for hunger. Drinking a glass of water will usually greatly reduce any false hunger pangs.

My First Week with Acai Berry

So its been a week since I began taking Acai Berry and I have to admit that I am pretty impressed with the results so far. I checked the scales this morning and I am down to 172, 6 pounds from my last weigh in. Not only that, but I feel great.

Here are some of the things that I have observed over the past week:

  • The Acai has been really easy to add to my diet. I simply have a glass of it with all three of my meals in place of my usual coffee, diet soda or wine.
  • The glass that I have in the morning gives me a really big boost of energy without any of the crashing that coffee used to do.
  • I feel like my appetite has decrease over the past week. I used to always be hungry for snacks throughout the day, but now I no longer have those cravings.
  • The Acai tastes delicious. Some of the previous dietary supplements that I have experimented with have tasted awful.
  • Tony (my nutritionist) has been following my results and notes that everything seems healthy so far. No huge weight spikes, mood swings or any of the other side effects that come with some of the more dramatic binge diets.
  • And, my favorite…I lost 6 pounds!

I really hope this keeps up throughout my diet. So far it’s been one week since I’ve been on the Acai diet and it’s been great. I’ll keep you updated as I continue with this.

Oprah Talks about Acai Berry

Ok, no more than 1 week after I ordered shipment of Acai has arrived, my friend Izabelle forwarded me a website from the Oprah Winfrey webpage that talks about the benefits of Acai Berry. I always like it when someone as esteemed and respected as Oprah takes the time to review diet products as it makes me feel more comfortable about choosing to diet with them. Here is a copy of what her website says:

It may seem odd to start this list of superfoods with one you’ve likely never even heard of. But studies have shown that this little berry is one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world! Açaí (ah-sigh-ee) is the high-energy berry of a special Amazon palm tree. Harvested in the rainforests of Brazil, açaí tastes like a vibrant blend of berries and chocolate. Hidden within its royal purple pigment is the magic that makes it nature’s perfect energy fruit. Açaí is packed full of antioxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids. Although açaí may not be available in your local supermarket, you can find it in several health food and gourmet stores (often in juice form). A new product featuring the unsweetened pulp is now also available, and I highly recommend that you choose this form of açaí.

Açaí pulp contains:

* A remarkable concentration of antioxidants that help combat premature aging, with 10 times more antioxidants than red grapes and 10 to 30 times the anthocyanins of red wine.

* A synergy of monounsaturated (healthy) fats, dietary fiber and phytosterols to help promote cardiovascular and digestive health.

* An almost perfect essential amino acid complex in conjunction with valuable trace minerals, vital to proper muscle contraction and regeneration.

The fatty acid content in açaí resembles that of olive oil, and is rich in monounsaturated oleic acid. Oleic acid is important for a number of reasons. It helps omega-3 fish oils penetrate the cell membrane; together they help make cell membranes more supple. By keeping the cell membrane supple, all hormones, neurotransmitter and insulin receptors function more efficiently. This is particularly important because high insulin levels create an inflammatory state, and we know, inflammation causes aging.

So apparently, Acai is not only good for losing weight healthily, but it also has anti-aging benefits as well. I can’t wait to try this stuff!

Also, the company that I bought my Acai from is now having a sale where they are giving away free trials for only $1.00 in shipping and handle. Not sure how long they plan to do this for, so if your interested in picking up a batch, check out this site.

My Weight Loss Helper: Acai Berry

Alright, so on Tuesday, Tony ordered me a shipment of Acai Berry Cleanser. When deciding on supplements, it was a toss up between this and the Green Tea diet, but Tony recommended that I try Acai because he’s personally seen the affects of it on a few of his clients. The thing that I like about the idea of taking Acai is that its healthy, all-natural, and best of all, CHEAP! The company that Tony ordered the Acai from actually offers a free trial for only $4.95 in shipping so I figured if this stuff doesn’t work, I can always try something else. If anyone is interested in trying Acai with me and commenting on your own progress, you can pick up a free trial here.
